To provide safe and efficient transportation of students to and from school and school- sponsored activities.
Accountable directly to the director of transportation, and secondly, to the principal of the school or schools, which are served.
Qualifications:
- Be at least 21 years of age;
- Must have attained a high school diploma or GED;
- Have an accident-free, citation-free, driving record;
- Meet state and county physical requirements;
- Hold a valid West Virginia chauffeur's license;
- Hold a valid first aid card;
- Pass State's required exam.
Terms of Employment:
Bus Operators are employed 200 days at a salary designed in the county salary scale.
Performance Responsibilities/Standards:
1. Work Habits
- Observe work hours;
- Follow school and state laws, and county policies;
- Observe safety rules
- Cooperate with staff;
- Observe appropriate dress and personal hygiene standards;
- Display a positive work attitude;
- Meet schedules;
- Maintain a clean, uncluttered bus;
- Manage stress
2. Work Performance and Duties
- Follow set schedule;
- Follow all rules listed in "West Virginia School Transportation Regulations;"
- Maintain discipline on bus;
- Follow county rules on use of bus;
- Report unsafe road conditions;
- Report damaged bus shelters;
- Notify principal and transportation director if runs cannot be completed;
- Discharge students only at authorized stops;
- Transport only authorized students.
3. Professional Development
- Attend training sessions;
- Attend county continuing education sessions.
