Salary:  $20.00 per hour.  Position dependent upon grant funding.

 

Budget Source:  21st Century Community Learning Center Grant(s)

 

Employment Term: June 1, 2018 through the end of the 2017-2018 grant funding cycle; not to exceed 15 hours for the grant cycle.  This is a grant funded position.  Position contingent upon student enrollment.  Will meet June 19, 26, July 10, 17, 24, 31 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm; 12 hours of direct instruction; 1 hour orientation; 2 hours sustainability.

 

The purpose of this grant is to improve parent and student achievement to ensure that families receive the highest educational opportunities and achievement possible.

 

Position Goals: For the duration of the six-week After School Explorer's Program Summer Library Program, beginning June 1,  there will be two-hours of open library time for checking out books, READ ALOUD and special programs also includes additional hours to be used for planning, record keeping, documentation, program maintenance, program marketing, student sign in/out per posting.  Contract includes additional paid time for staff orientation and sustainability to promote family achievement.

 

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • High school diploma or TASC.
  • Excellent ability to complete computerized and paper documentation and complete all tasking on time.
  • Experience working with students in grades K-8 preferred.
  • Experience with instructional technology and multi-media equipment (e.g. computers, Power Point, White Boards, Smart Boards, Hand held computers, Google docs) preferred.
  • Ability to communicate with and relate to children, school staff, volunteers, families and community members.
  • Experience working with at-risk children, children with disabilities and children who are low SES.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • First Aid and CPR Certification preferred.
  • Applicants who have been dismissed or who have had their contracts non-renewed for cause by another school district are not eligible for consideration.
  • Satisfactory past evaluations and references.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist Site Coordinator to develop the camp theme to be used throughout the program.
  • Assist Site Coordinator with planning and implementing a weekly program with presenters and activities for grades Pk-8.
  • Assist students and families in choosing books for their appropriate Lexile levels.
  • Assist Site Coordinator to collect and maintain records of attendance and snack/meal counts as needed.
  • Attend site trainings, staff meetings, parent trainings and family enrichment as required.
  • Ensure students are receiving a well-rounded, multi-faceted education during ASE Summer Library program.
  • Assist Site Coordinator with collaborating and scheduling participant's parents o9r designated family representative to help during ASE Summer Library program.
  • Provide direct instruction as planned including enrichment as aligned with the 21st Century After School Standards.
  • Assist Site Coordinator with attendance and snack count (if applicable) during each ASE Summer Library Program session and record.
  • Assist Site Coordinator with maintaining attendance, student sign in/sign out and snack count (if aplicable) on master spread sheet.
  • Complete Activity Records after each session.
  • Complete and submit accurate personal time sheets for PCS calendar and include date, time worked and brief, detailed narration of work completed as well as personal lesson plans.  First time sheet will include lesson plans from previous week(s) as well as plans for the following pay period.  Subsequent time sheets will include plans for the following pay period.  Plans and time sheets will be submitted to the Site Coordinator.
  • Assist with conducting 1 ASE Summer Library Program fire drill during the six-week program period.
  • Monitor and provide documentation for student progress in ASE Summer Library program.
  • Collaborate and document contact with parents to target and provide services based on student needs.
  • Plan and assist in activities designed to help sustain program after grant funding has ceased to include grant writing and fund raising.
  • Clean up any school areas used, including bathrooms; removal and disposal of trash on a daily basis.
  • Complete instructor evaluation with Site Coordinator.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned.
